Using Bookmarks and Ask fields in Word

1) Click to place cursor somewhere in the beginning of the document and select Insert –> Bookmark

2) Assign name (use letters, not digits) and click Add

3) Select Insert –> Quick Parts –> Field –> Ask and select bookmark name

4) Insert Prompt and Click OK

5) Click in document to place cursor where bookmark value should be placed.

6) Select Insert –> Quick Parts –> Field –> Ref and select bookmark.

7) Now you can click CTRL+A and F9 get prompted for updating values of all Ask Fields and Reference Fields.

 

8) To update all fields including Header and Footer select Print Preview. To enable this setup the following first:
